LOGOUT

At Other Libraries

As a student at the University of Melbourne, you are entitled to borrow material from other Tertiary Libraries in Victoria, including Deakin University, La Trobe University, Monash University, RMIT, and Victoria University of Technology through the CAVAL scheme. (Obtain your free CAVAL Borrower's Card from the Loans Desk at any Branch of the University of Melbourne Library)

Electronic catalogues make it possible to check the holdings of other Libraries without actually going there in person.

CoolCat

The CAVAL scheme maintains its own catalogue, called CoolCat, which can be accessed through the University of Melbourne Library Catalogue. (via the menu option, Connect to another library). CoolCat is a useful guide to the holdings of Victorian Tertiary libraries, and the State Library of Victoria.

Serials in Australian Libraries (SIAL)

Serials in Australian Libraries is a very useful tool for locating serials (also refered to as journals and periodicals) in libraries throughout Australia. It is accessible via Buddy.

Other Library Catalogues (Include Links)

The catalogues of other libraries can be accessed through the Internet. Direct links are available from the Library Catalogue (the www version) under Connect to Another Library option. This is useful if you want to check whether a book is currently available (or already out on loan) in a particular library.
